Getting started
What is Mindzilo?
Mindzilo is a learning app for every child up to 16, wherever they are in their learning. Children practise maths, English, science and more in short daily rounds on an Android phone, and parents and guardians follow their progress on a dashboard.
Which phones does it work on?
The children’s app is for Android phones, including shared family phones. The dashboard works in any browser, on a phone or a computer. An iPhone app is coming next.
How do I set up the phone?
Install Mindzilo on the Android phone and sign in with the same Google account or email you used to sign up. Your children and PIN are already there; each child taps their picture and starts, with the Starting check if you chose it.
Can two children share one phone?
Yes. Up to 3 children can use one phone. Each taps their own picture, and their progress stays separate.
Learning
Which ages and subjects does Mindzilo cover?
Mindzilo is for children up to 16, wherever they are in their learning. Today it has 346 skills in 8 subjects across Stages 1 to 3 (Urdu has First Steps so far): Maths, English, Urdu, Science, Computing, Geography, Money Smart and Islamic Studies, aligned by topic to the National Curriculum of Pakistan and international standards. A child starts at Stage 1 or shows what they know in a short Starting check. Islamic Studies is offered for Muslim families: it is on for families in Pakistan, and you can turn it on or off in Settings. More stages are being added.
Is Mindzilo available in Urdu?
Yes. Each child learns in English, Urdu, or English with Urdu help, and you can use the dashboard and get reports in English or Urdu.
How long does my child use it each day?
A round is 10 questions and takes about five minutes. Your child can earn rewards from up to 3 rounds a day in each subject.
How does my child earn rewards?
Right answers at your child’s level earn coins for avatar items and mini-games, and mastering a skill earns a star and bonus coins. Rewards come only from learning, never from luck or payment.
What if my child finds a skill hard?
Mindzilo notices, steps back to the skill underneath and builds up again. On your dashboard the skill shows “Finding it hard”, and Home suggests what to do this week.
Does Mindzilo need the internet?
It needs the internet to sign in. After that children can play offline, and progress reaches your dashboard the next time the phone is online.
Your account and privacy
How much does Mindzilo cost?
Mindzilo is free to use today, and no card is needed. If we add paid extras in the future, we will tell you first, and you will always choose.
Is my child’s data safe?
Mindzilo keeps what it needs to teach each child and show you their progress: a first name or nickname, avatar, learning language and learning. The phone lock and Zilo keep more only if you turn them on. There are no ads and no chat, and data is never sold. Our privacy policy lists everything in plain words.
Can I change the language later?
Yes. Change your own language in Settings, and each child’s learning language on their page, at any time.
How do I delete my account?
In the app (Family settings, then Settings) or on this website (Settings), choose Delete account. You can also email us (see the delete account page). Your account and all your children’s data are erased straight away, and from our backups within 35 days. An account not used for 6 months is deleted automatically, after an email at least 30 days before.
Does Mindzilo replace school or tuition?
No. Mindzilo is daily practice at home. It works on its own, and it works alongside school, tuition or home learning, and it shows you where your child needs help.
